Palm Beach County Included in State of Emergency Regarding Threat from Oil Spill
May 25, 2010:  Governor Charlie Crist issued an extension of Executive Order 10-106 declaring a state of emergency due to the threat of oil leaking from the Deepwater Horizon Platform and Well, posing a threat to the State of Florida.   The extension now includes Charlotte, Lee, Collier, Monroe, Miami-Dade, Broward and Palm Beach counties.

Staff members from the City of Delray Beach are participating in Palm Beach County's Planning Task Force. Initiated by PBC Emergency Management, this committee represents a collaborative effort by local partners to respond to the oil spill should it become a threat to our shores. City Manager David Harden, Fire-Rescue Chief David C. James and Assistant Chief John Tomaszewski, Planning and Zoning Director Paul Dorling, and Parks and Recreation Director Linda Karch attended this month's Task Force meeting which focused on the status of the oil spill and local coordination efforts.  Future meetings will include response strategies and priorities.
