A 20-foot long Air Force drone washed ashore at Ocean Hammock Park and was discovered by beachgoers at dawn on March 19. Ocean Ridge Police Officer Beckford was one of the first responders on the scene and kept people away as a Palm Beach County Sherriff deputy examined the drone.
Ocean Ridge Police, Palm Beach County Sherriff’s Office deputies and Boynton Beach Fire Rescue personnel responded to clear the beach and establish a safe perimeter. Once it was determined the device was not a threat, Hammock Park was reopened as the device awaited retrieval by government authorities. Jerry Lower/The Coastal Star
