"You should write a story on all the burglaries on the island in Delray Beach lately. My wife and I went to dinner one evening, only to come home and learn that we had been burglarized. Professionals, no fingerprints, went through two steel doors…"
"Diana:
Wow. The photos are great. Thanks for sharing. You are quite the artist! I bought a condo in Pirates Quay Hotel right after it was built in 1987. It is located on Silver Lake looking directly toward the entrance to the harbor. I am a pilot…"
"I can't wait to meet Diana. Anyone who loves Ocracoke Island is worth knowing. Delray Beach, like Ocracoke, is indeed magical. I owned a home on Ocracoke Island and spent much of the year there prior to my move to Delray Beach. Both islands seem to…"
On Ocracoke's back roads and hidden cemeteries, there lies a magic. The island has a way of charming one's heart. I understand Hawaii is like that. And Africa. Once they get into your blood, it's hard to break free. I once heard of a beach in Africa where elephants roam free. That's something I'd like to see in person. On my last trip to Ocracoke I stayed at "the doctor's house" right behind Howard's Pub. One of my daily rituals included going down to Silver Lake at night to watch the ferries come in. Sitting there on a park bench watching starlight reflected on the water and listening to the sound of sailboat lines against their masts was so extraordinarily comforting. Just thinking about it is soothing. Have you ever read, Pat Garber's books? She's got two: Ocracoke Odyssey and Ocracoke Wild. You may know her. She has a house called Marsh Haven. Last I heard she was in New Mexico and was considering selling the house. Since you like planes, you might enjoy this excerpt from an as yet unpublished novel of mine. http://pugsnewsfromthebeach.com/2009/07/19/dolphin-key-the-southern...
My best of the beach to you.
I haven't been to Ocracoke in a few years but whenever I look at these photos taken from my last trip there, my heart goes all aflutter. In which neighborhood was your house? Jackson Dunes is my favorite because it overlooks the salt marsh with the ocean is in the distance. Much of my book was written on Ocracoke.
