February 15, 2011: Registration is now being accepted for the Delray Beach Track Club! Beginning on Tuesday, February 15th, this exciting program will introduce girls and boys of all levels, ages 6 thru 18, to the sport of track and field.
The Delray Beach Track Team is registered with the United States of America Track and Field (USATF) organization and participating boys and girls will learn the fundamentals and skills of various events, including the 100 meter, 200 meter, 400 meter, 800 meter, and 1600 meter runs, relays, shot put, discus, long jump and high jump. Practices will be held on Tuesdays and Thursdays, from 5:30 pm until 7:00 pm, at Atlantic High School (AHS) Track, located at 2455 West Atlantic Avenue. All competitions are USATF sanctioned track meets and will be held on Saturdays at various locations around the area.
The cost to participate is $35.00 per person for Delray Beach residents and $40.00 for non-residents. All applications and payments (cash, check, master card or visa) should be delivered to Pompey Park, located at 1101 NW 2nd Street, from 5:00 pm until 9:00 pm on Mondays through Fridays.
