Women’s Equality Day Celebration to be Held at FAU
Friends of Florida Atlantic University’s Women’s Studies Center and the South Palm Beach County Chapter of the National Organization for Women will hold a Women’s Equality Day Celebration to commemorate the 89th anniversary of women’s voting rights. The celebration will be held on Wednesday, August 26 from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Hillel Center in the S.E. Wimberly Library on the Boca Raton campus, 777 Glades Road. The event is free and refreshments will be provided by the Hillel Foundation.
Speakers include Lisa Macci, who will be honored for her work on behalf of women and children; women’s studies students; professors; and local dignitaries. The event will also honor Courtney Brogan for her work in support of FAU’s Women’s Studies Center. Florida State Senator Ted Deutch will also be recognized for his legislative work against domestic violence. Tara Laxar from the Senator’s office will represent Senator Deutch.
