Center for Child Counseling is continuing its 2023 Lead the Fight series with a final event on Wednesday, June 7, 2023–the screening of The Wisdom of Trauma movie with Dr. Gabor Maté. Hosted at The Breakers by Kathy Leone, vice chairman of the Community Alliance of Palm Beach County, the event is open for registration for $25/ticket.
The movie screening will take place from 4 PM-5:30 PM, followed by a question & answer debriefing. Movie theater-style snacks and refreshments will be served from 3:30-4 PM.

ABOUT THE MOVIE:
According to trauma and addiction expert and international best-selling author Dr Gabor Maté, the interconnected epidemics of anxiety, chronic illness, and substance abuse are normal but not in the way one might think. In The Wisdom of Trauma, travel alongside Dr. Maté to explore why western society is facing such epidemics. This is a journey with a physician who has dedicated his life to understanding the connection between illness, addiction, trauma, and society.
Trauma is the invisible force that shapes our lives–the way we live, the way we love, and the way we make sense of the world. It is the root of our deepest wounds. Dr. Maté gives us a new vision: a trauma-informed society in which parents, teachers, physicians, policy-makers, and legal personnel are not concerned with fixing behaviors, making diagnoses, suppressing symptoms, and judging, but seek instead to understand the sources from which troubling behaviors and diseases spring in the wounded human soul.
Dr. Maté is an Order of Canada recipient for his work on addiction, trauma, and the mind-body unity.
