Music at St. Paul’s presents THE VITALI STRING QUARTET

The Music at St. Paul’s concert series will present the Vitali String Quartet in concert on Sunday, April 22nd at 4:00 p.m. in historic St. Paul’s Episcopal Church at 188 S. Swinton Avenue in the heart of Delray Beach. The Vitali Quartet is comprised of four young Mexican musicians: violinists Enrique Reynosa and Cynthia Saucedo, violist David Pedraza, and cellist Alan Saucedo. The Quartet won first prize in the MTNA Virginia Chamber Music Competition in 2004 and has performed at The White House, The Mexican Embassy in Washington, DC., at Virginia Tech and Azusa Pacific Universities, and at the Mexican Consulate in Los Angeles.
Violinists Enrique Reynosa and Cynthia Saucedo, and cellist Alan Saucedo were all born in Monterrey, Mexico, and studied at the Escuela Superior de Musica y Danza in Monterrey, and later at the Shenandoah Conservatory. They have performed as soloists, and chamber and orchestral musicians in Mexico, Canada, Korea, Italy, Poland and the US. Reynosa recently performed with the Filarmonica de Montevideo in Uruguay, and Alan Saucedo was recently a prize winner in the Japan International String Competition.
Violist David Pedraza was born in Reynosa, Mexico, and also studied at the Shenandoah Conservatory. From 2003 to 2005 he was part of the Youth Orchestra of the Americas under Placido Domingo, Carlos Prieto and Gustavo Dudamel.
The program for the April 22nd concert will include Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's String Quartet No.17 in B flat major, K.458, known as the “Hunt,” and Johannes Brahms' String Quartet in C minor, Op.51, No.1, as well as two works by Mexican composers, the Three Pieces for Quartet of Manuel Ponce and Silvestre Revueltas' String Quartet No.2, known as the "Magueyes" quartet.
A $15 donation is requested for the concert, with preferred (front center) seating available at $20. Students are admitted for a $5 contribution. Tickets can be reserved by phone or online at www.stpaulsdelray.org. No one will be turned away for inability to contribute.
