The LeMieux Center for Public Policy, in partnership with the Economic Council of Palm Beach County and the Florida State Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, presents Fix the Debt, an interactive workshop to help put Social Security on a sustainable path, at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 11, at Palm Beach Atlantic University’s Lassiter Student Center, 900 S. Olive Ave., West Palm Beach. The event is free and open to the public. Call (561) 803-2011 for more information.

In this workshop, participants will take up the challenge to eliminate 100 percent of Social Security’s 75-year shortfall by discussing in small groups a range of changes to the current system. Event organizers say that the Social Security program currently pays more in benefits than it collects in revenue, and under the latest official projections its trust funds will run out in 2034. At that point, all beneficiaries will face an immediate 21 percent benefit cut.
