On December 24th, 2003, George Piro was selected as the team leader and interrogator for the FBI team responsible for the interrogation of Saddam Hussein, one of the most brutal dictators of our modern times. This marked the first time in FBI history that the FBI interrogated a significant head of state in his country. During this time, Piro spent seven months leading the interrogation of Saddam Hussein and other key figures within the former Iraqi regime. Piro will provide insight into the seven months spent with Saddam Hussein, including the objectives and priorities of the interrogation, and discuss the FBI Behavioral assessment, including Saddam's vulnerabilities and environmental challenges. He then will walk through the FBI interrogation strategy and detail the successful results of the operation. Finally, Piro will share the values that helped him succeed in the interrogation of Saddam Hussein and throughout his law enforcement career. This lecture is also available virtually.
