The Casino @ Dania Beach will celebrate Juneteenth with Mello Fest, a spoken word, poetry and musical festival coming to Stage 954 on Saturday, June 18 at 7 p.m.
Featuring hip hop star Talib Kweli, Mello Fest applauds Black culture with a newfound freedom of expression by uncovering historical events through music, poetry and spoken word. Tickets are $40-$60 with $100 VIP tickets available at casinodaniabeach.com/entertainment-3/.
“We are honored to host this incredible Juneteenth festival at Stage 954 and showcase so many talented local artists who represent a diversity of artistic expressions,” said Joe Eshkenazi, Director of Entertainment & Events at The Casino @ Dania Beach.
Now a federal holiday, Juneteenth commemorates the ending of slavery in the United States.
From the producers of Miami’s hottest spoken word dinner party Mello Mondays, Mello Fest will feature poetry by: Def Poet Black Ice, KLove, Just Mike, Tony Award winner Georgia Me, Bertrand Boyd, Mori Taiye, Sa-Ra as well as spoken word performance by rapper Talib Kweli and many more.
Hosted by the gifted Will Serius, Quick the Poet and the phenomenal Ingrid B, there will also be a live musical performance by J Howard and curated tunes by DJ Heron.
