Artistic Touch Works in Plastic Surgery…and Oil Painting Dr. Richard G. Schwartz selected to show paintings at Elaine Baker Gallery WEST PALM BEACH, FL, October 7, 2010 – Elaine Baker Gallery selected two paintings by West Palm Beach plastic surgeon, Richard G. Schwartz, M.D. for the upcoming exhibition The Art of Medicine: Refilled. The gallery, well-known in Boca Raton art circles, orchestrated the return of the popular show for the second time. The opening reception is Thursday, October 14th from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. The gallery will exhibit Schwartz’s pear still life, Choices, 24 ½” square, and Moonscape, 31 ½” square, both are oil paintings on canvas. Moonscape portrays the human form in a landscape-like setting. The exhibition runs through November 3, 2010. The Elaine Baker Gallery is located at Gallery Center, 608 Banyan Trail, Boca Raton. Hours are Tuesday through Saturday, 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. “I am delighted to be included in this exhibition,” Schwartz stated. “It will be interesting to meet other physicians who enjoy painting as much as I do.” Schwartz, who heads The Palm Beach Plastic Surgery Center, has been a plastic surgeon in Palm Beach County for 31 years. He is known for his artistic touch and natural aesthetic sense in surgery. He dabbled in art most of his life, but was determined to act on his desire to paint 10 years ago. “I like working in oil because of the luminosity of the colors and the texture it presents,” Schwartz offered. “The painting Choices represents the choices that confront people and the divergent paths they take; some take a positive uplifting path, others take a negative path. It is my version of a still life,” he explained. “Moonscape is a nighttime landscape using the human form as the basis for mountains and scenery.” Schwartz is currently working on another landscape using the human form as inspiration. “I find painting to be very therapeutic and relaxing,” Schwartz added. “My surgery and painting both involve being creative, artistic and both require a delicate touch.” Schwartz, and his wife Dania, recently moved to West Palm Beach from Boca Raton, where he devotes his free time to painting.
