Learn about The Architecture of Suspense with author Christine Madrid French who investigates buildings as characters in Hitchcock’s mid-20th century movies. Hitchcock’s relation to the built world was informed by an intense engagement with chosen locations and architectural form. Madrid French illustrates Hitchcock’s work is marked by Modernism’s progress and fueled by some of the most creative mid-century designers in film. A book signing with the author follows the lecture.

Christine Madrid French is the author of The Architecture of Suspense: The Built World in the Films of Alfred Hitchcock (Sep 2022), and The Angle of Suspense: How One Modernist Building in Alfred Hitchcock’s North by Northwest Changed Cinema Forever, featured in Vanity Fair (Oct. 2022).
