On Monday, January 23rd the Species of Spaces by Georges Perec. of Palm Beach Book Reading Club and Discussion Group will meet to discuss the book
The meeting will be held at 2pm in the Robert M. Grace Library at the Preservation Foundation’s offices located at .
Georges Perec was one of the most surprising and enjoyable of all modern French writers and of this short work he said “The subject of this book is not the void exactly, but rather what there is round about or inside it”. Perec’s keen eyes for the “infra-ordinary” sees the things we do everyday – eating, sleeping, working – and the places we do them in a new light, bringing revelation to that which we most often rarely give but a moment’s thought.
Participants are asked to come prepared with an understanding of the assigned reading and openness to discussion. The Foundation’s Executive Director Alexander C. Ives will lead the group discussion.
The Book Reading Club and Discussion Group is open to both members and non-members of the Foundation and is FREE to all, though seating is limited to approximately 20 people. To make reservations please respond to this email or call 561.832.0731.
