Spady Living Heritage Festival Returns to Historic NW 5th Avenue The Spady Cultural Heritage Museum will hold its 4th Annual Spady Living Heritage Festival on August 22, 2009, 12:00 pm (noon) until 10:00 pm, at the Spady Cultural Heritage Museum Complex, 170 NW 5th Avenue. Admission is free and all are welcome to enjoy lively music, great food and fun-filled activities. This year's event will feature a personal collection of paintings by Florida Highwaymen artist R. L. Lewis. Mr. Lewis will make a special appearance during the festival to demonstrate his artistic technique and innovative style. The Spady Museum will raffle off one of his original works, painted on-site, for $50 per ticket. All raffle proceeds will benefit the Spady Kids Cultural Club. Other highlights of the festival will include a vintage farm equipment exhibition, storytelling and musical entertainment. A selection of Southern foods will be available for sampling and exhibitors will discuss syrup processing, turn-of-the-century hand tools and life on the farm. Children will enjoy pony rides, face painting, a bounce house and a petting zoo. Inside the museum, the Spady will present "Pahokee Prepares for War," a photographic exhibition that depicts what life was like in the 1940's in Pahokee. For more information on the festival, please call the Spady Cultural Heritage Museum at (561) 279-8883.
