Meeting to Discuss South Federal Highway Redevelopment Plan

February 18, 2011: The City of Delray Beach invites all property owners, residents and business owners to participate in two (2) Public Workshops with the City's Planning & Zoning Staff to offer, discuss and create a unified community vision for the redevelopment of the South Federal Highway (US Highway 1) commercial corridor. The Workshops will be held on Thursday, March 3, 2011, from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm, and Monday, March 7, 2011, from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm, in the City Commission Chambers, which is located at City Hall, 100 NW 1st Avenue.

These community Workshops are intended to provide the community with an opportunity to offer input and ideas on how this area should be re-developed to promote economic growth that is clean, safe, attractive and compatible with adjacent residential communities.  Information from these Workshops will be considered and included in proposed Comprehensive Plan and Land Development Regulations (LDR) amendments that will be forwarded to the City Commission for consideration at a later date.  No official City action will occur at these workshops.

During the Public Workshops, the Staff will present an overview of the boundaries of the proposed Redevelopment Plan area and provide a review of the existing Zoning Districts, Future Land Use Map designations and existing Land Use patterns.  Discussions on potential Future Land Use Map designation(s) and Zoning district(s) changes will follow.  Zoning categories within the proposed Redevelopment Plan area include: AC (Automobile Commercial), PC (Planned Commercial), GC (General Commercial), NC (Neighborhood Commercial) and SAD (Special Activity District).

Information on these current Zoning Districts is available at www.mydelraybeach.com by selecting Planning and Zoning under Departments .Click on Land Development Regulations and select the appropriate Section for individual zoning districts under Article 4.4.
