The legendary story of Scheherazade and her 1001 nights of storytelling, prompted by a desire to save her and her sister’s lives, has many touchpoints in modern culture, but perhaps none so moving and powerful as Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov’s 1888 work Scheherazade, based upon four of the tales from The Nights: "The Sea and Sinbad's Ship", "The Kalendar Prince", "The Young Prince and The Young Princess", and "Festival at Baghdad."

This classical favorite stands at the center of this evening’s concert, with Festival Orchestra Boca conducted by Constantine Kitsopoulos.

But the gems decorating this setting will be entrancing solos by rising star musicians Kara Ravaschieri and Hina Khuong-Huu, who will be performing the Ibert flute concerto and Sibelius Violin Concerto, respectively.
