Event 2: Reception and Art Exhibit “About The Children”

Place: Clay Glass Metal Stone Gallery (605 Lake Avenue, Lake Worth)
There will be a screening of the short documentary produced by Nick News with Linda Ellerbee entitled "Haiti Rising? Life in the Ruins. What's it like to be a kid in Haiti, a year after a devastating earthquake? ” This will be followed by a brief discussion about the situation children in Haiti are facing today. As well, there will be an exhibition of papier mache pieces and paintings and plus photographs of the public art project (450’ long Congo Plage Mosaic Wall of Hope) all created by the children/youth at Art Creation Foundation For Children in Jacmel, Haiti. Light refreshments will be served.
Haitian Heritage Month Commemoration recognizes the valuable contributions made by Haitians to the history of the United States and the world. It is a celebration of Haitian history and culture and an opportunity to share this culture with the world community. On May 18, a Haitian flag-raising ceremony will take place at Boynton Beach City Hall and at the Belle Glade City Hall following by a tree planting at Barton Elementary School in remembrance of the victims of the January 12, 2011 that devastated Haïti.
