Purina Incredible Dog Team

Poised to Thrill Palm Beach Crowds

The Purina Incredible Dog Team’s world class canine athletes will partner with Palm Beach County Animal Care and Control to show South Florida that any dog can be incredible.

On Friday, Feb. 25, from 6 to 6:30 p.m., Animal Care and Control will host a special performance by The Purina Incredible Dog Team (PIDT) at the shelter located at 7100 Belvedere Road, West Palm Beach.  Florida native Nadja Palenzuela and her team of incredible dogs will perform freestyle flying disc routines to dazzle audiences of all ages. The performance will feature Thelma, a pit bull who is a world finalist in the sport of canine disc and was rescued from an animal cruelty case prior to being adopted.

Following Friday’s performance there will be a public seminar by the National Canine Research Council titled, “The Pit Bull Placebo: Media, Myths, and Politics of Canine Aggression.” The seminar will reveal the progression of demonized dogs throughout history and offer practical approaches to reaching a common goal of safe and humane communities while preserving the human-canine bond.

Over the weekend, the PIDT will give two more performances: on Saturday, Feb. 26, at 6:30 p.m., the team will perform at the Palm Beach International Equestrian Center, 14440 Pierson Road, Wellington, Florida; and on Sunday, Feb. 27, at 2 p.m., at the International Polo Club Palm Beach, 3667 120th Avenue South, Wellington, Florida.

Palenzuela stresses that any dog can be incredible given proper nutrition, training and love. While the dogs on the PIDT are some of the world’s most amazing athletes, these high-flying pooches are no pretentious purebreds; they are all rescue dogs.  “There are millions of dogs out there waiting for a forever home, and I am thrilled to have found all of these wonderful dogs. I’m especially proud to perform with my adopted pit bull Thelma. Every time we perform together, we change perceptions about pit bulls and show the world that any dog can be incredible,” said Palenzuela.

PBCACC will have dogs available for adoption at each of the PIDT events. Nadja Palenzuela and the canine members of the Purina Incredible Dog Team are available for interviews and photographs/videos.
