POST-POST BOOK SALE
LAKE PARK'S PARK AVE. - SAT. - SEPT. 5 - 4-7 P.M.!!!
OK - it's a done deal. The Town of Lake Park is enthused about hosting my Book Sale along its main avenue Saturday, Sept. 5, and it's going to be quite the wing-ding.
There's a happy hour with finger foods from Brown Baggin' It - the primary host - and other restaurants and shops along Park Ave. are getting involved. They will have a banner over the street that goes up this weekend announcing it!
It will work much like our Post book sale -- all books are $4 and less, spread out all over the tables - first come, first grab.
There will be "door prizes" again, with the voluntary $1 door prize fee going to a bicycle-for-the-needy charity in Steinhoff's honor: He's the one who schlepped all these books from The Post and gets kudos for the heavy lifting - again.
There will be the usual "bin-full fire sale" at the end -- which may be later than 7 p.m., depending on the crowds.
Volunteers needed
I need some volunteers to cashier, run the door prizes, and help set up and tear down - I no longer have the help from The Post. I'll happily buy your drinks and nibbles. Previous experience not necessary, but Thom Smith, if you're around, be a saint and jump in. Signs will be needed, too -- anybody - ?? Also looking for small "craft-show" tents and tables, if you have them, though I'm investigating renting them.
USED BOOKS:
Several of you have asked if you could bring back your used books -- apparently, you've bought tons over the years and haven't bothered to shovel them out. We couldn't do it at The Post - but here, no problem.
But: they must be in good shape. (No beer-stained, highlighted, dog-chewed copies, please!)
I will be glad to resell them as "Used Books" on a special table if donated. I will give you a chit for 2 free books for every box of used books you donate.
You also could bring your own table and set up to sell them - but must make arrangements with me first. I will ask you to make a small donation to our charity for the "seller" fee but will leave the amount up to you.
(Note that if you're looking to make real money on them, however, take them to a used book store for credit -- or sell them at a garage sale or online. And jiminy Christmas, don't try to tell me how much they're worth -- I know how much you paid for them, you donuts!)
Money mostly for charity
I will be taking a small amount from profits for my time to set this whole thing up, pay storage on the books, and rent a tent for it, but otherwise, all money earned goes to charity, just as at The Post. Little ones that do big things are my favorites. There's a group of youngsters in Riviera Beach that are growing vegetables and selling them at a discount to the needy that I'm leaning toward, but if you have other ideas, let me know.
Contact me ASAP if you want to:
Get books to me to sell for charity and get your free books chit.
Sell your own books at this sale.
Volunteer to help out.
Suggest a charity - be willing to give me all information about it that you can and be willing to work for it as well.
