Boynton Beach Presents New Poetry Writing Classes

 

Boynton Beach, FL … The City of Boynton Beach Recreation and Parks Department is offering a new Poetry Writing classes slated to begin in September.  In the six-week class the instructor and students will cover such topics as the difference between prose and poetry; the use of poetic techniques, such as topography (line placement), repetition, and the rule of three; and figures of speech, such as metaphor and personification.  John Vincent Palozzi will explore various methods of generating original poetry with his students.  Every class will allow time for writing and sharing.  Homework assignments will be given.

 

There will be two day time classes from which adults, 18 and older, can choose; a Wednesday class or a Saturday class.  Each will be held from 10 a.m. until 12 p.m. at the beautiful clubhouse at Intracoastal Park , overlooking the Boynton Inlet and the Intracoastal Waterway .  The Wednesday class begins on September 28 and will be held through November 2.  The Saturday class begins on September 24 and will be held through November 5 (no class on October 8, 2011).  The fee for the six week classes is $75 for city residents and $94 for non residents. 

 

Pre-registration is required.  People can register either online at www.boynton-beach.org or may visit Intracoastal Park Clubhouse, 2240 N. Federal Hwy. , just south of Gateway Blvd. to register in person (Tuesday – Saturday, 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.).  First time customers who wish to register online must visit the clubhouse to set up a new account.  First time customers must provide proof of residency (current utility bill).
