Want to help Peer Place better support our clients with mental illness? We hope that you’ll join us on May 19th by stopping by and learning more about the center and all the exciting things that happen there. And you can help us grow by donating one of the items on the wish list below.
The “new” Peer Place, opened in September, is a community-based program that provides free peer-to-peer support for individuals regardless of background or diagnosis. In fact, it’s the only center of its kind in Palm Beach County. Open from Monday through Saturday noon, the center offers a place for individuals to take charge of their own recovery from mental illness and/or substance abuse. Peer Place is a safe, comfortable place for people to come, with a “homey” feel. There are couches, chairs, a television, and artwork on the walls. Folks who “drop in” to Peer Place find structure and support through recreation, peer counseling, and supported employment, enabling them to achieve their personal goals.
What’s new at Peer Place? Well, the building, for one! And, in the Fall, Peer Place participants will open a used book store, which will help provide more peer work opportunities and provide some ongoing financial support. We hope that you’ll join in making this possible by bringing new or slightly used books to the Open House. If you can’t join us, we’d be happy to receive them any time.

This year, funding for Peer Place was dramatically reduced. We rely on the support of local foundations and individuals to keep this one of a kind, much needed program alive, and invite you to make a donation on our website. We also have a wish list of needed items.
