OLD TIME ROCK AND ROLL CONCERT 4 p.m.show, Unity of Delray Beach, 101 NW 22nd St. It is open to the public. No reservations or admission charge. Free will offering will be collected.Do you miss that old time rock ‘n roll?Get ready to listen, reminisce, twist and shout at the Old Time Rock ‘n Roll Concert on Sun. Aug. 8.Eight professional, local singers will be featured in the show that starts at 4 p.m. at Unity of Delray Beach, 101 NW 22nd St. at Swinton Ave. It is open to the public. No reservations or admission charge. A free will offering will be collected.Brenda Robinson, organizer of the show says, “The summer is the perfect, relaxed time to gather professional talent together to create something that can bless our community with nostalgia and joy. So many of us love the old 40s through 70s music, it’s bound to be a rocking, rollicking success!”The performers are:• The duo “Like Honey” (The Sliwin Sisters), famous for their intricate harmonies, and who performed with Bob Seger and with Glenn Frey of the Eagles, Loretta Lynn and more. They also entertained troops in Vietnam with Bob Hope, and will be honored at a Vietnam Veterans Conference in Orlando in late August. Delray Beach residents, Detroit natives.• Originally from New Jersey, (now Lake Worth) “One Plus One” (Marion and George Frega) a duo who have entertained Prince Rainier and Prince Albert, and shared stages with Barry Manilow, Jack Jones, and the Platters.• DYMiN of Belize, (now Boynton Beach) who delights audiences everywhere with her original and other rock, reggae, and soca tunes.• Diana Loy, local actress, voice coach and public speaker will provide a romantic touch with her inspired, beautiful voice.• Also appearing is Baroness Elisa James, who returns from Greece just in time to knock our socks off with her upbeat personality and emotional torch songs. An Australian acrobat and trapeze artist turned cabaret singer, she has graced stages and ships with her mellow voice from Tahiti to Athens.• The Reverend Joanna Thompson Gabriel, originally from Toledo, Ohio (now Greenacres) a Unity minister powerful in both voice and spirit.• Pianist/organist Joanne Keys of Port St. Lucie will accompany Rev. Joanna.• The show will be emceed by old time rock buff Brenda Robinson, who will share snippets of rock ‘n roll history with the crowd between tunes.For more information, contact the church office at 561-276-5796
