FAU Symposium Looks at ‘New Scholarship on Israel’
Florida Atlantic University’s Gimelstob Symposium in Judaic Studies in the Dorothy F. Schmidt College of Arts and Letters presents the symposium “New Scholarship on Israel” on Sunday, February 26 from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the Barry and Florence Friedberg Auditorium, and Monday, February 27 from 8:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. in the Live Oak Pavilion, FAU Student Union, 777 Glades Road, Boca Raton campus.
Sunday’s program will include sessions on “Population and Immigration in Israel,” “Israeli Fiction and National Identity,” “Women, Art and Identity in Israel,” and others. Monday’s program will include sessions on “Religious Fundamentalism in Israel,” “The New Politics of Israel in the American Jewish Community” and “Scenarios of the Zionist Future,” among others. The ten speakers come from universities all over the United States and from Israel.
