Composer Matt Connor’s fascination with Edgar Allan Poe began when he picked up a $5.00 anthology of Poe’s work at a second hand bookshop. Poe’s darkly gothic works have haunted, horrified, and fascinated readers since their publication in the mid nineteenth century.  But as bizarre and macabre as his writing was, Poe’s life was equally strange, and Connor has crafted the story of poet’s often tortured and emotionally wrought life into a unique, powerful, and contemporary musical, Nevermore.
