Gareth Johnson took up the violin at age 10, after hearing famed violinist Itzhak Perlman. The New York Times said of Mr. Johnson that he “possesses prodigious musical gifts – like Joshua Bell or Maxim Vengerov…he dominates the stage.” A graduate of Lynn University’s Conservatory of Music, Gareth was a student of Elmar Oliveira. Having won numerous competitions and prizes throughout the United States and Europe, Gareth is the senior winner of the 2010 Sphinx competition, and he has appeared throughout North and South America, Europe and Asia as soloist with major symphony orchestras and in recital, and on live broadcasts nationwide. In addition to his talents as a classical violinist, Mr. Johnson is a devoted composer and arranger of other music forms. He works frequently as artist-in-residence, master instructor, and consultant to various universities, communities, and school districts around the world. His album Storytelling is available from Amazon.com.
Chinese-American pianist Tao Lin’s appearances in Asia, North America and Europe have brought unanimous critical accolades for his intimate pianism and brilliant technique. A versatile musician, he is equally at home as soloist, recitalist and chamber musician. Born into a musical family in Shanghai, he began piano lessons at the age of four. After moving to the United States, Mr. Lin continued his active concert activities. As a soloist, he has performed with the Moscow Chamber Orchestra, Winnipeg Symphony, Miami Chamber Orchestra, Knoxville Civic Orchestra, University of Miami Symphony, Harid Philharmonia, and Lynn Philharmonia. He has appeared in concerts with the Miami, Bergonzi, Alcon, Rosalyra, and St. Petersburg String Quartets. A regular guest artist at numerous music festivals, Mr. Lin is currently Professor of Collaborative Piano at Lynn University, and is on the chamber music faculty at Bowdoin International Music Festival.
