ABBA: A Global Phenomenon

Since winning the Eurovision Song Contest with “Waterloo” in 1974, ABBA’s rise to global fame has been rivaled by few musical groups, including The Beatles. With timeless hits such as “Dancing Queen,” “Fernando,” and “Take a Chance on Me,” the Swedish quartet helped define an era of pop music excellence.
After the group’s 1982 hiatus, its members pursued successful solo careers and musical theater projects, including Chess. ABBA experienced a remarkable resurgence in the 1990s, fueled by the record-breaking ABBA Gold collection and the worldwide success of Mamma Mia! on stage and screen.
After a 40-year hiatus, ABBA returned in 2021 with a new album and the groundbreaking Voyage show in London, featuring state-of-the-art digital performances of the group.
This fascinating course explores ABBA’s extraordinary journey through tremendous success, personal heartache, reinvention, and an enduring musical legacy that continues to captivate audiences around the world.
