It opens Friday, October 18 at 8 pm and continues through the weekend with performances on October 19 at 8 pm and October 20 at 2pm. Tickets are $25 for general admission and $10 for students. They can be purchased at the Actors’ Rep box office, as well as www.boxofficetickets.com.
Miss Margarida, played by Marisa Palazzotto, will do anything to impose her schizophrenic will upon her students - first attempting to charm them, then to intimidate them, then to manipulate them with her sexuality. Dark, yet hilarious she lets it be known that she will tolerate not an ounce of disobedience.
This absurdist political allegory is interactive theatre in which the audience is encouraged to behave like a group of naughty school children in Class.
Miss Margarida’s Way is an international classic that has been produced in over 30 countries since its 1973 debut in the playwright’s native Brazil. It was quickly closed by the military dictatorship in power at the time, which was not happy with the play’s depiction of a dictatorial school teacher and her methods of instruction.
