The City of Boca Raton, along with local veteran groups, will honor all military personnel who gave the ultimate sacrifice in service to our country at a Memorial Day Observance, Monday, May 27, 2013, beginning at 9:00 am at the City’s cemetery located at 449 SW 4^th Avenue.  Participating groups include American Legion Post #277 and its auxiliary unit, Boca Raton Elks Lodge #2166, Boca Raton Community High School unit of the Navy Junior ROTC under the direction of Commander Ken Bingham, Boca Raton Community High School Band under the direction of Jenn Mimmino, Fort Lauderdale Highlanders, and honor guard units representing the City’s Police Services and Fire/Rescue Services.  The Mayor of Boca Raton and several other officials will offer “Thoughts on Memorial Day.” A commemorative wreath will be placed at the memorial monument recognizing each service group represented at the ceremony, followed by the playing of “Taps,” and other traditional music played by the Boca High School Band and the bagpipe band of Ft. Lauderdale.
