– No holiday Season is complete without a performance of The Nutcracker. There is a certain magic in this ballet that keeps audiences returning year after year, securing its place as one of the most popular and widely performed ballets in North America. Boca Ballet Theatre’s staging of The Nutcracker presented by Marleen Forkas is guaranteed to delight audiences, ringing in the holiday season in a celebration of music and dance. Between Tchaikovsky’s iconic score, world renowned guest artists, magical sets, and breathtaking sets there is something for everyone to enjoy at The Nutcracker.
Guest Artists for this year’s performance are Remy Young who will dance as Sugar Plum Fairy and Sung Woo Han who will dance as her Cavilier. Both are appearing courtesy of American Ballet Theatre. Their performance has been graciously underwritten by Edith & Martin* Stein!
Remy Young began her classical training at the age of three at the Charlotte School of Ballet. Over the years she received awards from Youth America Grand Prix and American Ballet Competition. She was accepted into the ABT Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis School where she trained until joining ABT Studio Company. Remy joined the American Ballet Theatre’s main Company in 2016.
Sung Woo Han was born in Seoul, Korea where he began his ballet training and entered Korea National University of Arts at the age of 17. Han has won numerous awards including Beijing International Ballet Invitational Competition (where he won the Grand First Prize), International Ballet Competitio-Varna, and Youth America Grand Prix. He placed the second prize from Prix de Lausanne and received a full scholarship at the Royal Ballet Company. Han joined American Ballet Theatre in 2013.
Other guest artists include: Toby Lewellen from Ballet Arkansas; Sam Huberty from Bray Ballet; and freelance artists Lucas Segovia, Mauricio Vera and Rome Saladino.
Following the matinee performances don’t miss the Gingerbread Ball, a festive children’s party where kids can meet characters from The Nutcracker including Clara, the Sugar Plum Fairy and her Cavalier while enjoying sweet treats on the stage!
