Friday (24th) and Saturday (25th) we will have THE first annual LIONFISH HUNT for South Palm Beach County. This hunt will focus on the reefs in Boynton Beach, Delray Beach, and Boca Raton. It is hosted by a bunch of great local dive boats, dive shops, and Atlantic Properties. Atlantic Properties owns and operates (amongst other hotels) the Delray Beach Marriott, Residence Inn (offering up great rates for our out of towners), and the use of Boston’s on the Beach Tiki Bar for The Lionfish Hunt after party, starting at 7:00 PM the 25th.

That night Executive Chef Tenney Flynn of famed G. W. Fins (New Orleans) will be a special guest. Chef Flynn is well known in the culinary world for his awesome preparations of seafood. He will prepare several sample dishes of lionfish and then create one we can all share.

Dive trip certificates and dive shop gift certificates are being provided by all the dive boats and dive shops listed on this site. All money collected will go toward the food and support for the event. This event is not set up for gain, rather to educate divers about the issues we now have on our reefs. Additionally we want to share in creating a use for hunting and removing these fish while learning how to enjoy them. Although the long term affects of the invasion of these fish are yet unknown, it is believed that they will begin to have a negative impact on crustacean populations and on grouper populations which have already declined locally.
