The Boca Raton Museum of Art announces Late Night Thursday, a free monthly event at 501 Plaza Real in Mizner Park from 5:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on June 26, July 24, and August 28.

“We are thrilled at the attendance during our Free Summer Thursdays from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., which have been generously underwritten by an anonymous donor.  We want to keep the experience going for those who cannot join us during the day, therefore we are introducing Late Night Thursday,” says Irvin Lippman, the Museum’s Interim Director.

On June 26, the evening begins at 5:30 p.m. and features a guided tour and open discussion of the current exhibition -- Afghan Rugs: The Contemporary Art of Central Asia -- by Curator of Collections, Marisa J. Pascucci.  A docent-led tour of the Museum Collection begins at 7:00 p.m.  The first glass of wine is complimentary and the Museum will remain in full swing until 8:00 p.m. with a cash bar and music.  Visitors will also enjoy a 30% discount at The Museum Store during the event.

Founded in 1950 by the Art Guild of Boca Raton, today the Museum’s collections, innovative exhibitions, and educational programming are international in scope and reflect the creative expression of the Florida region.  In 2001, the Boca Raton Museum of Art moved into its new home in the heart of Mizner Park.  The Art School, located nearby on West Palmetto Park Road (the Museum’s original location), offers more than 100 classes in a variety of media for adults and children.  The Guild remains a strong auxiliary of the Museum with more than 350 artist-members who actively exhibit throughout the area and whose work may be seen at the Artists’ Guild Gallery on Atlantic Avenue in Delray Beach.

Upcoming special exhibitions include: the 63rd Annual All Florida Juried Competition and Exhibition (August 9 - October 18, 2014); Theresa Bernstein: A Century in Art (November 11, 2014 - January 11, 2015); a video installation by photographer Shizuka Yokomizo (November 11, 2014 - January 11, 2015); Surrealism and Magic (January 26 - April 5, 2015), and Helena Rubenstein: Beauty is Power (April 21 - July 12, 2015).
