Juneteenth Celebrates Commitment to Healthy Living The Juneteenth "Healthy and Free" Celebration, a family-fun day promoting healthy living, will be held on Saturday, June 19, 2010, at Old School Square, 51 North Swinton Avenue. Sponsored by the One Love-One Community Foundation, Inc., Juneteenth commemorates the end of slavery in the United States. Festivities will begin at 9:00 am with games, arts and crafts, face painting, bingo, health testing and live entertainment for children, adults and senior citizens. The event is free and open to the public. City of Delray Beach Commissioner Angeleta Gray, West Palm Beach NAACP President Lia Gaines and NFL Hall of Famer Dwight Stephenson will join others in presenting opening remarks during the noontime ceremony and One Love-One Community Foundation CEO and Founder Barbara Haider will accept the Juneteenth Proclamation issued by Mayor Nelson S. "Woodie" McDuffie. Juneteenth will feature a variety of activities for all ages including athletic drills with football players Lional Dalton and Stockar McDougle, storytelling and African mask-making crafts. The Health Fair, offering free preventive health screenings and education, will be held from 9:00 am until 5:00 pm in the Old School Square Gymnasium. Musical performances are scheduled throughout the day with a special tribute to legendary talents James Brown, Michael Jackson, Luther Vandross, Bob Marley, Teddy Pendergrass and Marvin Gaye from 7:00 pm until 10:00 pm in honor of Black Music Month. The community is invited to celebrate Juneteenth on Saturday, June 19th, from 9:00 am until 10:00 pm. For more information, call (561) 819-1126 or visit www.love-community.org. Entertainment provided by world renowned showman and accomplished artist Tony Wilson - "The Young James Brown", John Joseph, Danny B., Stampede Movement, Promyss, The Green Family Tree, Airele Jones, Rich Man Group, Florida Marlins Street Team, TriStarr International and DJ Salusa.
