Presented by the Japan-America Society of Miami/South Florida (JASMSFL), co-organized by the Consulate General of Japan in Miami, Miami-Dade County, and Miami International Airport, and supported by a grant from the National Association of Japan-America Societies, Inc. (NAJAS), with the support of the Embassy of Japan in Washington, DC, this exciting event is part of the “Japan Currents” public affairs series, which was launched in 2019.
With events hosted in 14 different cities by the local Japan-America Society, each Japan Currents program addresses topics of local interest in relation to Japan, and is composed of speakers from Japan, the United States, and the local community. As the only national public affairs program that focuses on the Japan-US relationship, the March 4 event will mark the first Japan Currents program to be hosted in South Florida. As US-Japan civil space cooperation continues, ties between aerospace companies in Florida and Japan continue to grow.
Featuring insights from Space Florida, Japanese space business community architect, Cross U, and other industry experts, Japan Currents: Connecting Aerospace Communities in Florida and Japan explores how these aerospace partnerships work and how to encourage cross-border collaboration.
Dr. Shinichi Nakasuka, President of Cross U and Professor of Aeronautics and Astronautics at the University of Tokyo and Matt Chestnut, Vice President of Business Development at Space Florida, will discuss current trends in Florida-Japan aerospace partnerships and collaboration in the public and private sectors. A panel discussion exploring how local governments and partners can play a role in shaping these aerospace communities will follow, moderated by James Kohnstamm, Director of Economic Development at Miami-Dade County, and featuring Ken Yoshioka, General Manager of the Operations Division 3 of Cross U, and Project Lead of Mitsui Fudosan Co., Ltd, as well as other local experts. The event will close with a networking reception hosted by the Consul General of Japan in Miami.
This event is free and open to the public. Spots are limited and attendees must register by March 3 or before. For more information or to reserve a spot, please visit https://www.eventbrite.com/e/japan-currents-connecting-aerospace-communities-in-florida-japan-tickets-1248213503189?aff=erelexpmlt
