FLORIDA HUMANITIES COUNCIL TO SPONSOR
LECTURE ON GOSPEL MUSIC AT
ST. ANDREW’S EPISCOPAL CHURCH
On Saturday, February 5th, 2011, St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church in downtown Lake Worth will host a lecture entitled “Gospel Music and the Historic Roles of African Americans in Florida”. The featured speaker will be Professor Sherry DuPree of Santa Fe College in Gainesville. The lecture will explore the repertoire and history of Gospel Music in Florida.
The 50 minute lecture will take place at 7 pm. The program will be preceded by a community potluck supper at 6:30 and a worship service at 6. The public is invited to participate in any or all of the evening’s activities.
The lecture is made possible by a Partnership Grant from the Florida Humanities Council; the event is free and open to the public.
