Event Description

Dr. Emily Fenichel
The Renaissance Artist Grows Old

Despite the dangers of war, famine, and disease that plagued the Renaissance, some artists lived to astonishingly old age and continued to create artworks well into their 80s and 90s. Moreover, many of the works that these aging artists produced were amongst the most daring of their careers. This talk explores how artists such as Donatello, da Vinci, Michelangelo, and Titian used their later works to challenge themselves, their fellow artists, and to “rage against the dying of the light.”

The Boca Raton Museum of Art partners with the Friends of the Uffizi Gallery to investigate different aspects of the Italian museum’s collection and its cultural impact. Online tickets required; ticket includes access to the galleries.

Seating is limited.
