HOLLYWOOD LEGEND’S FLORIDA HOMEGETS GREEN MAKEOVERFrances Langford’s beach house stars as Designer Showcase HouseBy all accounts, 40’s film star Frances Langford’s beach house, tucked away from view on a narrow strip of A1A in Stuart, Florida, was the scene of legendary parties in the 1970’s.Headliners Bob Hope and Jackie Gleason were among the regulars who came to relax, Rat Pack style, and sometimes honeymoon, far from the Hollywood press.Until now, few outside Langford’s inner circle got to see the home, the guest suites and grounds that were a very private retreat for Ms. Langford and her high profile pals.On February 21, the long, low Malibu-style beach house with the glamorous and intriguing past will be in the “green” spotlight when the Frances Langford Designer Showcase House benefitting the Children’s Home Society debuts for a two week run.Mary Washer, ASID, Stuart-based interior designer, founder and creative director of the showcase house, invited 12 top Treasure Coast designers to each create distinctively different “beach chic” rooms incorporating eco-friendly sustainable, “green” products. The designers are Linda Kerley, Vicki Lautenbach, Patty Downing, Eileen Morris, Susan Morgan, Mary Washer, Francesca Morgan, Rhonda Lee, Judy Weber, Doris Clements, Debi Phillips, and Diane Pittenger. And the house features a complete energy makeover, courtesy of Florida Power and Light. The Frances Langford Designer Showcase House“Green and Chic”To benefit Children’s Home SocietyFebruary 21-March 91319 NE Ocean Blvd, Stuart, Florida10-5 dailyAdmission $30.00www.franceslangfordshowcase.org772-489-5601 ext. 245.
