FAU Presents Annual Juried Student Art Exhibition BOCA RATON, FL – The 2010 Annual Juried Student Art Exhibition at Florida Atlantic University will open with a public reception and award presentation on Thursday, March 25 from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Ritter Art Gallery on the FAU Boca Raton campus, 777 Glades Road. The exhibition presents approximately 50 works of art in all media selected from more than 100 submissions. FAU students can submit up to three works each and the juror, who is different every year, has complete autonomy in their selections. Awards in the form of partial tuition scholarships are awarded to three students. The reception and exhibition are free and open to the public, and the exhibition will remain on view through Saturday, April 3. This year’s juror is Patricia Bellan-Gillen, the Dorothy L. Stubnitz Professor of Art at Carnegie Mellon University where she teaches foundation drawing, concept studio, painting and MFA seminar. In addition to her jurying duties, Bellan-Gillen will give a public lecture on Thursday March 18 at 6:30 p.m. in the Performing Arts Building, room 101 (next to the Schmidt Center Gallery). She will also give critiques to graduate students in the department of visual arts and art history masters of fine arts studio art program. The Ritter Art Gallery is located centrally on campus on the second floor of the breezeway immediately east of the Wimberly Library. Gallery hours are Tuesday – Friday, 1 – 4 p.m.; and Saturday 1 – 5 p.m. The University Galleries are closed Sunday and Monday.
