County to Hold Evaluation and Appraisal Report Scoping Meeting September 20 Over the next year, Palm Beach County will prepare to update its comprehensive plan. As part of the process, a state-mandated evaluation and appraisal report (EAR) is prepared to identify successes and shortcomings of the current comprehensive plan, new issues and changed conditions, and needed changes to prepare the plan for the next planning period. To help determine the list of major issues to be evaluated in the EAR, the county will be conducting a “scoping meeting” on Monday, September 20, 2010. This meeting is an opportunity for the public, area organizations, local governments, and internal and external agencies to suggest major issues to be included in the EAR, to share data resources, and to help determine the scope or depth of evaluation in the EAR. Who: PBC Planning Division What: EAR scoping meeting When: Monday, Sept. 20, 2010 1-4 p.m. Where: Vista Center, 2300 N. Jog Road, West Palm Beach First Floor, Room 1W47 Specific changes to the plan are made in the 18 months following the adoption of the EAR, which is due to be adopted by the Board of County Commissioners by October 2011. Consistent with state requirements, the EAR will include three main components: 1) Evaluation of major issues affecting multiple topic areas 2) Evaluation of individual elements of the comprehensive plan 3) Evaluation of specific topics outlined in statute The agenda for the scoping meeting, including a preliminary list of major issues developed at a BCC workshop last year to serve as a starting point for discussion, is available at pbcgov.com/pzb/planning/EAR .
