Palm Beach Dramaworks and the Dreyfoos School of Arts Theatre Department have joined forces
to present the Third Annual Emerging Artists Showcase May 1, 2012 at 2:00 and 7:00pm in the Don & Ann
Brown Theatre at 201 Clematis Street in West Palm Beach. Tickets are $15.00 and are available at
561-517-4042, www.palmbeachdramaworks.org or the Brown Theatre Box Office.
The Emerging Artists Showcase is a unique partnership between a professional, regional theater
and a secondary school theatre program. Its purpose is to present selected graduates from the AW Dreyfoos
School of Arts Theatre Program to the South Florida theatre/film community. The showcase
is directed by Kenneth Kay (a Carbonell award-winning director and former Producing Artistic Director of
the Blowing Rock Stage Company, North Carolina) in collaboration with Beverly Blanchette (Dreyfoos Theatre
Dean/Acting Director) and Bruce Linser (Dreyfoos Music Theatre Director). The showcase includes songs,
scenes, and monologues from popular, contemporary plays/musicals along with original works. Audience
members will also be treated to a lobby display of student scenic/costume designs, design/technical portfolios,
and original art work. Through this endeavor, the Dreyfoos theatre students experience, first hand, a
professional audition and rehearsal process.
It is the dream of Hayes and Blanchette that the Emerging Artists Showcase will be an annual event for
years to come. At Palm Beach Dramaworks’ new home at the Don and Ann Brown Theatre, the Dreyfoos
Theatre Department graduates will perform in their first professional venue before embarking upon their college
and professional careers.
