Are you ready for a resource shortage? Preparing for hurricane season and beyond
Disaster readiness workshop at Gizzi’s Coffee, Wednesday, May 30 at 6:00 p.m.
Delray Beach, FL (May 22, 2012) — The Atlantic hurricane season is upon us. Sow Share, a collective self-reliance program for residents of Palm Beach County, encourages people to prepare for hurricane season by attending a free disaster readiness workshop at Gizzi’s Coffee on Wednesday, May 30 at 6:00 p.m.
The presentation will focus on making effective decisions after a hurricane or other catastrophe. Workshop participants will learn how to assess their situation based on the answers to key questions. For example:
• Is it safe to go outside?
• Is it OK to leave the neighborhood?
• Do my neighbors need help?
The workshop will also cover available training and other disaster readiness resources.
Bill Weg, the presenter, is an accomplished professional in disaster readiness. Mr. Weg is …
• Master instructor for FEMA’s Community Emergency Response Team (CERT)
• Former commander of the West Palm Beach CERT during Francis, Jeanne, and Wilma
• Member and former chair of Senator Sachs’ Disaster Preparedness Blue Ribbon Committee
• American Red Cross advanced instructor and Disaster Action Team captain
• Former emergency management coordinator for the New Jersey State Police
• Eagles Wings Foundation Safety Officer

Sow Share is a program of Auroras Voice. Founded in 2007, Auroras Voice is a 501(c)(3) charity devoted to continuing the work of Gandhi and Martin Luther King.
The disaster readiness workshop is free and open to the public. People planning to attend should RSVP at www.sowshare.org. Suggested donation of $10; donations of $10 or more receive a free coffee or tea drink.
