DBHS Hosts Exhibit and Panel Discussion on Local Architect The Delray Beach Historical Society (DBHS) will host a panel discussion on Delray Beach's first registered architect, Samuel Ogren, Sr., on Thursday, May 20, 2010, 6:30 pm, at the Ethel Sterling Williams History Learning Center, 111 N. Swinton Avenue. Admission is free and the public is invited to experience the works of this talented architect. Panel members architects Dan Sloan and David Hawke, preservation consultant Bonnie Dearborn, architectural historian and interior designer Donna Sloan and DBHS Archivist Dorothy Patterson will discuss Ogren Designs-Green Themes-What We Can Learn. Prior to the panel discussion, a reception will be held at the Costin Cottages, 114 NE 1st Avenue, from 5:00 pm to 6:30 pm. The Costin Cottages project is the 2010 Historic Preservation Board Award winner for Adaptive Reuse and the 2010 Pat Cayce Award for Excellence in Historic Preservation. The reception, courtesy of architect Roger Cope and the Delray Beach Preservation Trust, celebrates National Preservation Month. An exhibit featuring Mr. Ogren's drawings is on display at the Ethel Sterling Williams History Learning Center during the month of May.
