Papalani Gelato®, home of hand-crafted, artisanal, Hawaiian-inspired gelato, coffees, and chocolates, is throwing a luau with its neighbor, the Morikami Museum and Japanese Gardens, on Saturday, May 9. The grand opening charity give back day will provide 20 percent of Papalani Gelato’s sales to the museum and gardens More Opportunities to Reach Youth (MORY) program. The grant-funded program invites groups of students from non-profit organizations to participate in Morikami’s Summer Tour Plus program, a two-hour experience including a guided tour of the museum and exciting activities.

To extend this giveback event, Papalani Gelato will also make an appearance at the Morikami Museum and Japanese Garden’s Sushi & Stroll kick-off event on Friday, May 8, where 20 percent of the evening’s gelato sales will be donated to the aforementioned cause.

Already a popular dessert destination in Hawaii and Tampa, Papalani Gelato’s first South Florida location will not only offer Hawaiian gelato, but also small batch coffees, hand-made gourmet chocolates, decadent desserts and one of a kind breakfast dishes. The gelato options burst with tropical tastes and a fruitful array of fresh and delicious hand-crafted Hawaiian-style artisanal flavors, as well as traditional favorites like pistachio and fine Belgian chocolate.

“To be a part of the South Florida area means a lot to us,” said Mark Rubenstein, franchise owner of Papalani Gelato in Delray Beach. “We look forward to being a neighborhood destination as a great place for breakfast or after dinner for delicious coffee and a variety of unique desserts.”

Coffee drinks include rich and smooth espresso, frothy cappuccinos and creamy lattes. All coffee drinks start with high-quality beans from the Hawaiian Islands and around the world which are roasted in small batches to yield distinctive, crisp flavors that please even the most passionate of coffee lovers. One of the organic coffee options will be provided by Florida based roaster Java Planet. The restaurant will also offer a breakfast menu with a variety of options including buttermilk Belgian waffles, fresh tropical fruit salad, steel cut oatmeal and pastry special of the day. Papalani Gelato’s offerings extend from breakfast to include gelato cakes and pies, gelato cookie sandwiches and bars, and fresh cookies from local Pembroke Pines company, Insane Cookies.

Papalani Gelato uses only the highest quality ingredients and old-world Italian-craftsmanship. They were also the first national frozen dessert company to introduce an organic version of sorbetto, a frozen dessert that is dairy-free, gluten-free, GMO-free and vegan made only with real fruit and wholesome natural ingredients. Smooth, silky and soft, sorbetto contains very little air, which gives it a dense, creamy, “ice-free” consistency.  Papalani Gelato’s sorbetto is available in a variety of delicious flavors, including banana, chocolate banana, pineapple, mango, strawberry, dark chocolate, papaya and several others.

In addition to the charity give back day, grand opening festivities include an official ribbon-cutting first scoop with the Greater Boca Raton, West Boca Raton and Delray Beach Chambers of Commerce, school giveback nights where 15 percent of event sales will be donated back to local schools, an exclusive Mother’s Day special and more!

Rubenstein plans to open additional locations in Broward and Palm Beach Counties. The Delray Beach location will be open Sunday through Thursday from 7 a.m. – 10 p.m. and Friday through Saturday from 7 a.m. – 11 p.m. To learn more, please visit Facebook  or Tweet @PapalaniBoca.
