Overview:                  Cabaret Verboten explores Germany’s Weimar era art-scene, a hotbed of music,                                     theatre, and art designed to use satire and irony to expose corruption and social                                     injustice in the face of the Nazi machine’s insidious advance. Bold, provocative                                                       and titillating, Cabaret Verboten features the biting music, songs and scenes of                                                       Kurt Weill, Hanns Eisler, Bertolt Brecht, Friedrich Hollaender, Mischa Spoliansky                                                       and Marcellus Schiffer. The cabaret of the day reflected society’s degeneration,                                                       dripping in decadence and menace, and dealt with social issues in stunning                                                       music and song that resonates as if written today.
