Boys & Girls Club Celebrates 3rd Annual "Love to Read Day" The City of Delray Beach Mayor's Literacy Initiative will host the 3rd Annual "Love to Read Day" at the Naoma Donnelly Haggin Boys & Girls Club, 1451 SW 7th Street, on Friday, May 21, 2010, from 3:00 pm until 4:30 pm. Mayor Nelson S. "Woodie" McDuffie will welcome guests and join in the event's activities. Special guest WPTV Meteorologist Keenan Smith will participate in this year's event and discuss the featured book "Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs" by Judi Barrett, an illustrated book about a small town where the weather comes at mealtime and always brings food and beverages! "Love to Read Day" focuses on the importance of literacy in our community and cultivates the joy of reading in our youth. Volunteers are needed during the event to read to a child. If interested, please contact City of Delray Beach Education Coordinator Janet Meeks at (561) 243-7231 or Mary Leavenworth at (561) 279-0251.
