The History of Florida Broadcasting
By Donn R. Colee Jr
Donn R. Colee Jr. will discuss the history of Florida’s broadcasting industry, beginning in 1922, as well as the people who brought radio and television stations to life and the events that saw the state grow from boom to bust and back again, on its road to becoming the nation’s third most populous state.
Colee is a seventh-generation Floridian and second-generation Florida broadcaster who began his career as a teenage disc jockey at Orlando’s top-rated rock ‘n’ roll radio station. After service in the U. S. Navy, he joined his father’s advertising and public relations firm and resumed his broadcasting career at WPEC CBS 12 in West Palm Beach.
