Boca Ballet Theatre presents Romeo and Juliet, Shakespeare’s classic tale of two ill-fated lovers set to the beautiful haunting music of Prokofiev. Prepare to be swept off your feet with romantic and regal ballroom scenes, spirtied swordplay and poignant pas de deux as Boca Ballet Theatre portrays this timeless tale of tragic love with passion and poise.
Boca Ballet Theatre welcomes guest artists Nayara Lopes Soloist with Pennsylvania Ballet as Juliet and Sterling Baca Principal Dancer with Pennsylvania Ballet as Romeo.
Nayara Lopes began dancing at age six. She trained at the School of Theatre Dance Guaira in Brazil and later at the American Ballet Theatre Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis School in New York. Nayara then danced with Orlando Ballet ll, the National Ballet of Canada and Dance Theatre of Harlem. She joined Pennsylvania Ballet in 2016 and was promoted to Soloist for the 2018/2019 season. We welcome Nayara to Boca Ballet Theatre!
Sterling Baca danced with us at A Princely Affair in 2018, we welcome him back! Sterling started dancing at age 11 and after attending numerous summer programs at American Ballet Theatre, he received a full scholarship to the Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis School at ABT. He danced with American Ballet Theatre from 2010 to 2016 and was steadily promoted. Sterling joined Pennsylvania Ballet as a Principal Dancer for the 2016/2017 season and has successfully tackled several principal roles both in repertory and full-length ballets.
In 2016 both Nayara and Sterling appeared together on the cover of Dance Magazine for their “25 to Watch” issue.
Additional cast members include Boca Ballet Theatres Co-Artistic Directors Dan Guin and Jane Tyree as Lord and Lady Capulet; Lucas Segovia from The Joffrey Ballet as Mercutio; and Shannon Smith, Boca Ballet Theatre’s resident artist.
