Inspired by true events, Black Angels Over Tuskegee is a vibrantly energetic, emotionally captivating, award-winning drama that tells the story of six trail-blazing men who exhibited courage to excel in spite of overwhelming odds. The play follows the collective struggle of the first African American aviators in the United States Army Air Forces as they overcame Jim Crow-era injustices with intelligence, patriotism and brotherhood as they worked towards their dreams of an inclusive and fair society.

Thaddeus Daniels – (Man) Thaddeus Daniels is a native of Wilmington, NC and an alumni of UNC – Chapel Hill. He has performed in many of Layon Gray’s works in NYC and throughout the US. Some Film/TV credits: Law & Order, SVU, Golden Boy, Orange Is The New Black, The Americans, The Blacklist, FBI, Greta, The Post, White House Plumbers. He is thankful for this opportunity.
Reggie Wilson (Jeremiah) is from Tallahassee, Florida and holds an undergraduate degree from Florida A & M University and a Master’s of Fine Arts degree from The University of Florida. Some of his and Regional credits include Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom (AUDELCO Award Best Lead Actor), Sugar Ray (AUDELCO Award Best Solo Performance), Cowboy (Best Supporting Actor), Stockholm Savings (Outstanding Ensemble NYFF). David Roberts (Abraham) aka D-Black is known for his on-camera appearances in Harlem, Blue Bloods, Fbi: Most Wanted, Orange Is The New Black, Daredevil, & Wu-Tang: An American Saga. His poem, “I Apologize”, has over 10 million views on Facebook and is still climbing. He is also a 2018 AUDELCO award winner for the Best Dramatic Lead In A Play & is more than honored to be a part of the off-Broadway sensation, Black Angels Over Tuskegee.
Anthony Goss (Elijah) is an actor, writer from Boston, MA, based in NYC. He has ‘worked the boards’ all over New York City stages. Most recently at the Fire this Time Festival, Samuel French Off Off Broadway Fest, and Woody King Jr.s New Federal Theatre. ‘Black Angels Over Tuskegee’ is his favorite play to perform and he is grateful to bring it to Delray Beach. Sal Rendino (Major Roberts) Sal earned an Artistic Director Achievement Award in L.A., as “Best Lead Actor” for the world premiere “David and Goliath in America”. Film: Sal won the 2021 Best Supporting Actor Award from the Long Island Int.’l Film Expo. for the feature, “One Moment”, opp. Danny Aiello in his final screen performance. Other credits: “Fog of War”, opp. John Cusack, “Gotti”, opp. John Travolta. Ryan Sett (Stage Manager) is an actor, singer, stage manager and developing screenwriter. Diego Villada (Fight Director) is elated to be working with Layon Gray once again! His fight choreography was featured in last year’s production of Layon Gray’s Cowboy. Diego has been a professional fight director for over sixteen years. He also teaches theatre at New College of Florida. Diego loves creating moments of violence that add to the story. Layon Gray (Writer/Director) Layon has earned more than 60 nominations and awards for his works. Among the honors are: 2021 Broadway World Awards for (Best Director, Best Actor, Best Play, Best Production Of The Year) for his play Cowboy, 2021 NYC AUDELCO Award for Kings Of Harlem, 2019 Detroit Distinguished Playwright Award, 2018 Miami Carbonell Awards (Best Director, Best Ensemble, Best Production) for his play Kings of Harlem, 2016 Broadway League Fellowship, 2012 NYC Inspire Award, 2012, Al Sharpton Man of Vision Award, 2012 PCTF Award (Best Director) 2010 NY AUDELCO Award (Achievement Award for Excellence); 2009 NAACP Award (Best Ensemble Award); 2009 Hollywood ADA Award (Best Ensemble Award); to name a few. Black Angels Over Tuskegee, his play about the Tuskegee Airmen tours all around the country and has been commissioned by The NFL, U.S. Army, and The Smithsonian Institute among others. It is in development for a Broadway run 2024/2025. The film versions of his award – winning plays Kings Of Harlem, and Cowboy are both in early development as feature films. His latest stage play de MOOR, about a black knight at King Arthur’s round table of Camelot, debuted in Pittsburgh in November, and his two man play about Richard Pryor and Redd Foxx titled Foxx/Pryor will debut Off – Broadway summer 2024. He was recently accepted into the BMI Musical Workshop in Manhattan to work on his new musical entitled New Orleans The Musical.
