Mayors of Delray Beach and Boca Raton Accept
Bartending Challenge to Support Youth Literacy
October 5, 2010: City of Delray Beach Mayor Nelson S. "Woodie" McDuffie and Boca Raton Mayor Susan Whelchel will trade their gavels for swizzle sticks during the "Bartending Challenge" on Thursday, October 14, 2010. From 5:30 pm until 7:30 pm, the Mayors will serve patrons and compete for tip money at Duffy's Sports Grill, 1750 South Federal Highway, Delray Beach, in an effort to raise money to promote youth literacy. At the end of the Challenge, the Mayor with the most tips will be declared the winner. Proceeds from the event will benefit scholarship programs for local high schools in both cities.
The "Bartending Challenge" is presented by the Rotary Club of Delray Beach and the Rotary Club of Boca Raton Sunrise. These organizations promote humanitarian service, sponsor numerous programs that support the community and provide educational and career opportunities for our youth.
