Business for the Arts of Broward (BFA) kicks off its 2020 Arts Mean Business Speaker Series with a presentation from South Florida-based visual artist Stephanie Melissa Dorsainvil in Fort Lauderdale.

The event is free and open to the public. Guests must RSVP by February 18 to rvegas@bfabroward.org. A reception with light appetizers and wine begins at 5:30 p.m. followed by the presentation at 6 p.m.

A native of Southern California, Dorsainvil is a first-generation Haitian-American raised in South Florida who has created her own visual language, which is represented in her paintings as primitive symbols that represent diversity and unity.

Upon finishing high school, Dorsainvil received her cosmetology license and worked as a hairstylist while keeping her crave for artistic expression alive. In 2017, she decided to fully pursue her art career. Since then, Dorsainvil has painted more than 20 commissioned murals, participated in several live paintings, and her work has been shown in countless art shows throughout South Florida.
