Shirl Solomon

Shirl Solomon’s talents and personality dazzle with wit, boldness, and joy. As a multi-faceted artist, published author, forensic handwriting analyst, and award-winning playwright, Shirl’s accomplishments complement and inform one another. Shirl’s paintings are uniquely vivid in color and concept and express her passion for nature, the human form, and Jewish folklore.  The vitality, humor, and talent expressed in Shirl’s work are captivating and memorable.

Shirl Solomon studied art at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts, Dallas Art Institute, and El Instituto de Allende of San Miguel, Mexico. Shirl’s art sensibility is influenced by the years she spent traveling around the world painting and studying new languages. She lived with the natives in Tahiti, the Canary Islands, Spain, Italy, Greece and Israel.  Most interestingly, Shirl studied with Paul Gaugain’s son in Papeete, Tahiti.

Shirl’s work has been displayed in galleries and other commercial locations throughout New York, New Jersey, and Massachussets. She has exhibited internationally in Mexico, The Canary Islands, Libya, and Tahiti.

Shirl’s Jewish folklore collection will be on display at Chabad in the Plaza del Mar, 242A S. Ocean Blvd., Manalapan, FL 33462.  The exhibition opening will be on December 2, 2012 from 2pm-5pm and will include an artist’s talk and wine & cheese refreshments. The works will be on display through February. Call 561-351-1633 for more information.
